From
Pastor Greg
Growing up in the country next to Grant United Methodist Church near Fairmount, the grounds, the building, the people, and ultimately, Jesus, have been an important part of my life from infancy. In that setting I learned morals and values, priority or relationships, responsibility. I caught a glimpse of community and knew I wanted to be a part of a faith community the rest of my life.
Saved and called to ministry at an early age has given me a lifetime to ‘work out’ my salvation in the church setting. As a pastor, that is my high view of the church. It is a community of faith made of people who are at various stages of life and various stages of their relationship with Jesus. But we have a common bond – a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and his Holy Spirit. My desire is to grow a community of faith.
My wife Carol and I have been married for 32 years. We have four sons, Justin (deceased), Jamie, Brian (and wife Emily), Dan (and wife Katelyn). Justin blessed us with two granddaughters, Anna and Andrea. We enjoy family, camping, reading, and hanging out around the house as we adjust to being “empty nesters”.
John Wesley referred to the world as his parish. As a pastor of a busy, vital local church, it is hard for me to sustain a world vision. Sometimes my head and passion can be consumed by the Huntertown Community. We look forward to seeing all that God has in store for us as we pursue his call for this place. We are looking forward to the many surprises which lie ahead.
Today, Tomorrow……….

Gabrielle Ginder
Director of Ministries
It’s hard to believe that I am in my 20th year at HUMC. It’s been a wonderful journey to see this place change and grow over the years. I certainly have grown in so many ways – been blessed by working in this amazing community and with a congregation that I love dearly.
I am mostly involved in church wide ministry – helping people to begin new groups, equip those that exist, grow leadership, and encourage people to get plugged in. My goal is to help provide ministries, both inside and outside the church, that help people grow deeper in their faith and walk with Christ. I work with Pastor Greg on the larger administrative pieces of the church and on the ministry related life of this congregation.
I am the ‘East Coast’ representative on staff. I was born in
New York City and grew up in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. I have a B.A. from
Boston
College and an M.A. in Communication from
Penn
State
University.
My husband Park and I have been married for 20 years. He is the Assistant Principal at our high school. We have four children: Cameron (20) who just completed his freshman year at Hanover College in southern Indiana. He is thinking about majoring in Economics and plays on the baseball team. Kyle (18) just graduated and is headed to University of Indianapolis to study Spanish. She'll be spending the summer in Mexico teaching English at a middle school!! Tanner (16) will be a junior. He is a great basketball and baseball player and has enjoyed success with both teams this year. Mallory (14) will be a freshman this year and in addition to learning guitar is swimming on the high school swim team! Needless to say our lives are busy.
I love to read – mostly non-fiction, culture, leadership, and church growth books. I love listening to ESPN radio in the morning. And I love to listen to sermons on my mp3 player. Some of my favorites are: Erwin McManus, Herb Buwalda, Rob Bell, and Andy Stanley. |

Will Deeds
Director of Worship and Music
will.deeds@huntertownumc.org
I have the amazing opportunity to be Director of Worship and Music here at Huntertown UMC! I thank God for allowing me to serve him doing something I love. In this position I get to serve God and love people through music and the creative arts which is an awesome privilege. I love the people of this church and their heart for bringing Jesus to
the surrounding community. My passion is to see the church become the beautiful bride of Christ talked about in the
scriptures. I long to see the church intimately connected and laying her life down for Jesus.
I grew up in rural Indiana, graduated from a high school in the middle of a corn field, and married the love of my life Amber. We both attended Asbury College where I received a degree in Christian Ministries. I have served in several churches as a youth pastor,
pastor, and worship leader.
I would love to get to know you better. If you get a chance
please stop by my office and talk!
Jason Schwartz

As a pastor’s
kid, I grew up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in Southeast
Asia. I first moved to the United
States when I started
college in 1995. I like to play the
guitar, travel (and look at
maps), eat spicy food and play soccer.
I am always thankful
for God’s grace in our lives
because without Christ we can do
nothing. I am
blessed to be married to my remarkable wife, Rachel,
whom I met at Asbury Seminary. She
likes to paint, dance, sew
and write. Rachel and I believe that God has called us
to serve in ministry together as a
couple. She plans to
get involved with the youth group
as a volunteer, although
most of her time will be spent
caring for our precious
son Josiah. At 9 months old, he
loves to rip paper, drum on
table tops, and play with Jimmy, his
stuffed panda.
We are
glad to become a part of the HUMC
family and are
looking forward to getting to know you.

Office Staff

Karen Baker (Office Manager)
I came to HUMC two years ago with 25 years of secretarial experience and last year I began the position of office manager. I love interacting with people who come in and out of the church all during the week. I am amazed to watch them faithfully serving God in how they so willingly volunteer and care for one another.
Bert and I have been married for 36 years, sometimes it seems like such a short time and has gone so very fast. Though once in a great while it seems like it’s been forever. We have 3 grown children & 6 grandchildren! Bert and I LOVE traveling and camping, then traveling some more! I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with family & friends.
The mission trip to
Zambia,
Africa in 2005 was one of the greatest blessings in my life—it’s something I would love to do again. I really enjoy hearing the updates on how God has been working there over the past few years.
I am excited to be a part of a church which reaches out to not only each other but to others in the community. HUMC is the best place for me to feel connected first to God and then to family & church family.

Maxine Potter
Financial Secretary
Someone has to count all those pennies, nickels, and dimes that precious little hands place so carefully in the offering plate each Sunday morning….and, for some time now I have been that person. Along with my faithful helpers, each Monday morning is spent taking care of what our church family offers to God.
I became a member of HUMC in May 1989 and have been the financial secretary since August of 1994. I have three grown children and spend my free time reading, playing cards, and working crossword puzzles. HUMC is a great church, and this is where I want to belong!
